SPANISH TENNIS:

In the last 30 years, Spanish tennis has produced a World Number 1 every five years: Arancha Sánchez Vicario (1995), Carlos Moya (1999), Juan Carlos Ferrero (2003), Rafa Nadal (2008, 2010, 2013, 2017 & 2019), Garbiñe Muguruza (2017) and the youngest in tennis history, Carlos Alcaraz (2022) at just 19 years old. At present, Rafael Nadal, Olympic Gold medallist in Beijing, 13 time winner of the French Open, 2 time Wimbledon Champion, 4 time US Open Champion, 1 Australian Open, 36 Masters 1000  and the first Spaniard to win the Golden Grand Slam, helps confirm the unrivalled success of Spanish tennis on all surfaces over the last three decades. At the end of 2022, #1 and #2 in the world in the ATP ranking were occupied by Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal.

Spain has positioned itself as the 1st World Tennis Power and players like Alcaraz, Nadal, Carreño, Bautista, Muguruza, Badosa, Sorribes… have become the most charismatic of the moment, marking that spirit of struggle, commitment, work, sacrifice, dedication, humility and talent on which our tennis is based. Spain has always placed a large number of players in the top 100 of the rankings, being one of the few countries that have been able to maintain their level over many years

The Spanish Davis Cup team has achieved 6 victories (2000, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2019) and in the Federation Cup 5 (1991-93-94-95-98) and 10 more finals. With more than 1,000 tennis schools spread throughout the national territory, along with nearly 200 competition groups, enjoying in our geography every year a great structure of professional tournaments with different prizes from $ 15,000 to the big tournaments in Barcelona, Mallorca and Madrid, in addition to hundreds of national tournaments in different categories. Spain has become the second country in the world, behind the United States, with the largest number of Professional Tennis Tournaments. To achieve these results, the training and development of teaching technicians has been crucial in this process, and this authentic revolution has been possible thanks to the leadership of the Registro Profesional de Tenis: RPT / Registry of Tennis Professionals.

RPT: REGISTRY OF TENNIS PROFESSIONALS:

In 1989, Luis Mediero, one of the main promoters of Spanish tennis, founded the RPT with the aim of offering different training programs, international certification and comprehensive services to tennis coaches and their teaching centers, in addition to promoting the sport at all levels.

Since its foundation, the RPT has certified more than 9,000 coaches in all the Spanish autonomous communities, working with most of the tennis schools and competition academies in our country. In its 36 years of history, the RPT has given more than 1,000 training courses in Spain, and has organized 50 national congresses, 15 educational tours and 25 international symposiums, in addition to implementing nearly 200 promotional activities and conducting more than 500 clinics where more than 500,000 players have participated, giving the opportunity to all professionals in Spain to be up to date in terms of systems, training techniques, teaching methodologies, technologies and innovations in the tennis industry. The RPT’s training courses and qualifications are endorsed and recognized by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation – RFET. In addition, the RPT has become the largest and oldest promoter of JUNIOR TENNIS in Spain, organizing annually +80 tournaments throughout the national geography in the U12, U14, U16 and U18 categories, through the National Circuit RPT – MARCA, which since 1996 when Juan Carlos Ferrero won the first edition, more than 50,000 players have participated. This Circuit organized with the support of the RFET has been recognized as a fundamental pillar in the development of our tennis.
